Playboy Racing Partners with Michael Shank Racing
NEW YORK, N.Y. (May 31, 2006) -- Playboy Racing announced today that Playboy Enterprises and Palms Hotel will sponsor the No. 6 Lexus-powered Riley starting with the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen and through the remainder of the 2006 Rolex Sports Car Series Season. The No. 6 car is the sixth Playboy Racing entry brought to the Grand American Road Racing Series by TCR and features the stunning trademark all Black paint scheme. Mears Motor Coach, the Orlando-based transportation services company, will also continue to be an important partner for the Columbus based team. "We are really pleased that everything finally came together and now we will be proudly carrying the Playboy and Palms Hotel colors along with Mears Motor Coach," said team owner Mike Shank. "The Rolex Series has become so competitive and having good corporate partners for the team is an important part of our ability to produce strong on-track results. Playboy Racing has clearly identified MSR and the Rolex series as a good place to market and grow their brand, and we are excited to be a part of it." Tommy Constantine will share the driving duties in the Playboy Racing/Mears Motor Coach machine with Mike Borkowski and Paul Mears Jr. for the Watkins Glen round, marking the Daytona Prototype debut for Constantine, who also currently competes in the Grand-Am Cup Series with Mike Borkowski and has a long history of success in the open-wheel ranks. "TCR, as the Agency of Record for Playboy Racing looked to partner the Playboy program with Michael Shank Racing from the beginning and we are thrilled that the opportunity to work with them has developed. We have chosen only very capable, competitive teams and MSR certainly falls into that category," said Constantine. "From the driver's perspective, Borkowski and I have both been fast in the cup series and I am looking forward to stepping up and driving with him and MSR in the Rolex Series on behalf of Playboy." The Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen will get underway on June 1st, with the race being carried live on Speed Channel starting at 2:30 PM ET on Saturday, June 3rd.
